Around the world, organizations are implementing new data management strategies to comply with the requirements of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Among the most challenging: the policy that gives consumers the right to be forgotten.
It should be a simple matter – the user requests you remove all their personally identifying information. And in primary storage, it might be simple. But removing this data from a backup set is definitely not simple, and probably impossible in image-based backups.
Our approach? It’s pretty simple. Enable full-text content search for specific data. Use the classification feature to identify data subject to GDPR so you can identify it and delete it.
